Abstract

|
Epidermoid is a histeropia arising from displaced cutaneous ectodermal cell inclusions.
This tumor is so rare that the percentage incidence cannot reasonably assessed.
Symptoms and signs are the same as seen in other benign intraspinal lesions. In the spinal canal the distribution is more general over the thoracic and lumbosacral region but is more frequent in the cauda equina. Diagnosis is only made by surgical exploration. Laminectomy with removal of cyst is the choice of treatment.
